When I was growing up Johnny Cash was one of the country music stars. I never had the opportunity to see him live and regret that now. Just about five years before he died he performed just 15 miles from my house and I was too busy to go see him what a mistake. Now he’s gone and all we have left are his recordings both audio and video.

A few years before he died he performed on Austin City Limits. I recorded that show on VHS. It was amazing to see how he interacted with the audience in that close venue. I have to find that VHS again, why? Well, I bought a DVD of that same show and was very excited to see a better quality recording of that amazing event. It was not complete. Some of the best parts of been cut out. I don’t know why, my only guess is legal issues and releases of other performers on that show. It was very disappointing, but I’m sure I have the VHS yet, and I am going to transfer it to DVD.

There are so many stories about Johnny Cash, and so many recordings that he made, I am constantly finding new records that he made. He was a very versatile performer and recorder. I heard once that if there was a song that nobody else could make into hit they would give it to Johnny Cash and it would be a hit. I can believe that.

One of the songs that he performed that is my all time favorite is “Jackson” when performed with June Carter Cash. I was watching a YouTube yesterday of a TV show in the 60’s where Johnny and June performed that song together. Those two were magic. What is amazing is you can watch them perform that song 40 years later and the magic is still there.

It’s sad to see how the two of them aged. They certainly enjoyed each others company up till the very end. I’m going to grow my Johnny Cash library and get some more of his music soon.

If you haven’t listened to much of Johnny Cash’s music, don’t discount him in any way, with an open mind listen to some of the music he made in his career, I think you’ll find it to be just as good if not better than much of the music recorded today.

So immediately, I thought that it would produce crappy, not good quality sounds. To my surprise, the beats I made actually sounded great. And the software taught me the basics of making beats unlike using studio equipment.

Here’s a couple of things you should look out for.
1. Refund Policy. Make sure that whichever beat making software you choose to use, that they offer a refund. The last thing you want to do is get stuck using a crappy software and can’t get your money back.

2. Video tutorials. The software I used provided video tutorials so I could actually see the pros make a beat. If you work better reading manuals, then make sure your software offers that option too.
